Frequently Asked Questions

What is Speed Networking?

Speed networking is modeled after speed dating. It is a series of one-on-one mini-meetings but is focused purely on professionals to expand their business networks. Similar concept but different results.

How does speed Networking work exactly? And what do I have to do?

For the speed networking portion, you will sit across an individual and receive 1 minute each to pitch your business and hand out business cards and any marketing materials. There will be a bell after 2 minutes where you then rotate to the left seat next to you. You will continue this rotation until you’re back to the beginning, sitting in front of the same person from the start.

** PLEASE NOTE: If some one needs to leave, you are not to fill in that seat. You must notify us and wait until the seat is filled by a back up person. If this is not followed the rotation will be broken and you will not be able to meet every one at the event. **

What’s the average time per meeting?

1 minute each. The bell rings every 2 minutes until every one meets each other.

How much does it cost?

Berks County Speed Networking is FREE.

How is Berks County Speed Networking different than traditional networking events?

There is a tremendous amount of “chance” that goes into a standard networking event. You may attend an event and leave a few hours later realizing you handed out 2 business cards and spoke to the same person the whole time. At Berks County Speed Networking you will get the opportunity to meet every one in the room and build your network!

How long is the event?

Our event can be anywhere form 2-3 hours. With that said, please be prepared for a longer event. If you’d like to meet 50 new people you need the time set aside to do that. Unfortunately, we do need our participants to stay the entire length of the speed portion of the event in order to keep our rotation moving smoothly. If you do need to head out early please let an event coordinator know upon check in so we can have a person ready to fill in your spot at that time.

Why is Berks County Speed Networking effective?

Speed networking is the ultimate icebreaker. In the initial meeting, each person provides a quick overview to describe themselves and their business. It is a great way for strangers to meet with almost no pressure or stress. The model of speed networking allows people to meet and chat in a structured environment for a scheduled amount of time.
